Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad became associated with teaching of Physiology and Biochemistry in 1959 when he joined Nishtar Medical College, Multan as Demonstrator in Physiology. He became Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in 1966 in the same college. but later worked in this capacity at K.E.M.C. Lahore from 1971 to 1972. Later he served as Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry first at Q.A.M.C. Bahawalpur(1972-73) and then at P.M.C. Faisalabad (1973-~79). From 1979 to 1981he was Professor of Biochemistry at P.M.C. Faisalabad. He again joined Nishtar Medical College, Multan in October, 1981 as Professor of Biochemistry and head of Physiology Department. He delivered lectures in Biochemistry and Physiology at P.G.M.l. Lahore and Army Medical College. Rawalpindi during their early years. He has been examiner in M.B.B.S.,B.D.S., B. Pharmacy, M. examinations He served as Principal, Nishtar Medical College, Multan for two terms, from 1.5.89 to 5.6.93 and from 21.1.95 to 19.3.96 when he retired from government service. _

Born in village Dhogri, District Jalandhar, British India, he passed his matriculation exam from M.B. High School, Okara (1951), F.Sc. from Govt. College, Lahore (1953) and MBBS from K.E. Med. College, Lahore(1958). These were followed by postgraduate studies. His M.D. degree was equated with Ph.D. by the University Grants Commission. His research work includes liver function tests, malnutrition, Shope fibroma virus DNA and hepatic metabolism of drugs.
